Mafi has together with SAAB and Eltel Networks developed a complete range of antenna carriers for the Rakel project. So far approximately 1700 sites have been built. Building of the last phase in the northern part of Sweden has started.

Rakel is a nationwide system for cooperation in tele-communication (tetra). The system is currently being used by public authorities, county councils and commercial companies. This joint national system of communication simplifies cooperation - both within and between different organizations.

Rakel is robustly built and secure, in order to ensure that the system works even in extreme situations, when alternative systems become overloaded or simply do not work.

Enclosed are some of the products that have been using in this project.

From Sebastians press release:

Engelsk flagga  Swede challenge the world financial situation and signs up for Formula Two

The Swedish racing star Sebastian Hohenthal challenge the world financial situation and sign up for seat in the international Formula Two championship for 2009. Being the stepping stone to F1 for both Ronnie Peterson and Stefan Johansson the F2 name had strong Swedish traditions.

Hohenthal, who earlier has won championships in karts, Formula Ford, Formula Renault and races in Formula 3, now take the a step closer to Formula 1 getting up to Formula Two.

F2 will have 16 rounds at 8 tracks around Europe at track as Spa, Imola, Valencia, Barcelona, Donington Park among others. The new F2 cars has been designed and made by Williams F1, will have 450 hp and a 6 speed paddle shift gearbox. The races will have a mandatory pitstop, all in the line to produce the future F1 drivers.

"Even though the world financial situation there is a more positive vibe among the Swedish corporations than I have felt in many years that we can produce a Swedish F1 driver. I am very grateful for all my partners that now will make this happen. During the autumn my advisors and I have discussed the next step in my career and came up with the conclusion that F2 is our model for further success. In my point this could be the hardest championship to win in 2009 since everyone has the same material and number of days testing. In all the other series you can benefit from technical superiority and test more when you have the funding. This is the real difference for F2 – it really is the same for everyone. I am also honored to be chosen among 20 drivers to drive one of the new F2 cars in 2009.” Seb says about his 2009 campaign.

The F2 championship winner also gets a full-scale test with Williams F1 and the three top drivers qualify for a FIA super license, with is what you need to compete in Formula 1.

APRIL 2008
MAIN FEATURES OF THE CAMOUFLAGED ANTENNA BOOTH
The idea of the 'cambooth' is to hide the antenna carrying structure, antenna cables and also the base station equipment of a mobile network site inside a separately supported usually cylindrical cover of glass reinforced plastic. In principle the cross-sectional shape of the cover can be also other than a round cylinder.

The cover prevents the wind induced forces to create deflections on the antenna carrying structure. Thus the antenna carrying structure inside the cover can be designed only for the weights of the installed antennae and attached accessories. No wind forces have to be taken into account.

The cover and its supporting structure can be designed without limitations of tight structural deflections common for telecom tower design standards. The cover and its supporting structure may even be designed using normal wind loads for buildings.

The cover camouflages the antennae and the equipment. It is possible to attach advertisements on the shield or select a suitable colour according to local requirements.
Since the plastic cover is supported by a separate structure the thickness of the plastic cover and the amount of its glass reinforcement remains small. This minimizes the effects of additional damping and reflection to the antennae caused by the cover. The damping and reflection effects depending on the type of antennae and the frequency used can be measured.

If also the equipment has been put inside the cover additional positive features can be achieved: the cover acts as a sun shield for the equipment and the chimney like cover creates an additional natural internal cooling airflow through the structure reducing extra cooling needs of the equipment.

The structure can be used for Rooftop and Greenfield sites.
